Hot Reads for Cold Nights Reading Challenge
Location: La Crescent Public Library, 321 Main Street
The winter reading program for teens and adults is back! Earn a raffle entry and hot cocoa packet for each book review you complete and return to the library. Receive a La Crescent Public Library book light and mug with your third book review (while supplies last). Submit all book reviews by 6:00 PM on Friday, February 27th to enter the raffle for a grand prize sponsored by Emplify Health.
Planning Commission Meeting
Time: 5:30 PM
Location: La Crescent Community Building, 336 South 1st Street
The Planning Commission meets the first Tuesday of every month. The commission advises the City Council on development projects, zoning issues, plat approvals, variances, and conditional use permits. Meetings are open to the public.
Friends of the Library Chocolate Sale
Time: 2:00 PM β 4:00 PM
Location: La Crescent Community Building, 336 South 1st Street
Buy chocolates for your Valentine (or yourself!) and support your local library at the same time. Call the library at 507-895-4047 before January 30th to pre-order. Pre-order availability is limited. All proceeds benefit the La Crescent Public Library.
City Council Meeting

The La Crescent City Council meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Meetings are open to the public. Agendas are available at City Hall on Fridays prior to each meeting.
Township Supervisors Meeting
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: La Crescent Town Hall, 830 Town Hall Road
Township Supervisors meet the second Monday of each month. Meetings are open to residents of La Crescent Township.
Hygge After Hours
Time: 6:00 PM β 8:00 PM
Location: La Crescent Public Library, 321 Main Street
Hygge is a Nordic word meaning “cozy.” Wear comfy clothes and bring a warm blanket to stay cozy at the library after hours. Enjoy a hot beverage (tea or cocoa) and quiet reading or crafting time. Library DJ Jess will spin vinyl featuring relaxing tunes. A book giveaway raffle will also be heldβanyone who joins can enter for a chance to win a free book.
Valentine’s Day
Celebrate love in the Apple Capital! Local restaurants and businesses throughout La Crescent offer special experiences for couples. Consider a scenic winter walk along the bluffs or visit one of our local wineries for a romantic afternoon.
Presidents Day
Presidents Day is a federal holiday. La Crescent City Hall, the DMV office, and the La Crescent Public Library will be closed. The post office will also be closed. Most schools in the La Crescent-Hokah School District observe this day off.
February Book Club β “Hell of a Book” by Jason Mott
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: La Crescent Public Library, 321 Main Street
Join the library’s book club to discuss “Hell of a Book” by Jason Mott, winner of the 2021 National Book Award for Fiction. The club is open to new members at any time, and members help vote on future reads. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the circulation desk.
